A Call for the Death of Facebook Quizzes

by Matt Langford on August 4, 2009 · Comments

Do you constantly find yourself pulling your hair out as you filter through your Facebook News Feed, frantically ‘hiding’ all signs of annoying quizzes? If that sentence describes you, then you’ve come to the right place!

Using Facebook’s own Video feature, I decided to launch a personal war against those who insist on not only taking the quizzes, but publishing them to my feed. This is for you, mortals.

You can also watch this video on YouTube.

  • Can we also get rid of the dumb "polls"? "Do you think Obama is putting us on the path to socialism?" "Do you think Paris Hilton should dye her hair?" "Do you think Sarah Palin should be the next president?"

We could also dump the "which X are you?" games. You may have mentioned this in the video--sorry, I didn't watch it. The headline of the post alone told me all I needed to know!

Between the freakin' quizzes and the stupid polls, Facebook is becoming less and less useful and relevant.
  • The video definitely covered games and quizzes... And I'm with you on the polls! I'm interested to see what their new beta Facebook Lite and Facebook 3.0 for iPhone do before I deem them irrelevant though!

    Omg...I just laughed and laughed!
  • You should make a 'followup' video from this!
  • lol, i wish i can disable them some way. Almost everytime, good things get buried in these kind of things on facebook and twitter
  • Awesome! I feel your pain and your rant!

    I agree 100,000,000,000%.

Hey now, publishing the quizzes to your news feed is not NEARLY as bad as inviting you to take them. I have 70-something quiz requests just waiting to continue being ignored...
And I'm guilty of quiz taking and publishing, but Matt Langford, I do it just for you, babe, so you can see how intune I am with the Twilight series. Duh.
  • I hate those requests too! The thing about them though, is you can block those 3 or 4 annoying people from sending you requests without having to block them from your feed (unlike the quiz results). Still annoying though!

LOL Can you please do one for twitter as well? It's already happening!
  • Haha... Maybe I should! Although, maybe I should focus on one impossible fight at a time!
