Since it was released, the iPhone has gradually started to take over the world. It has become the most popular smartphone, the most used mobile browser, and the leading cause of finger-carpal-tunnel.
It has been on the cover of just about every tech magazine, in the hand of every celebrity, and even in the Blender. Even Dilbert is addicted to it:
Since it is so popular (and also because I am physically and emotionally attached to mine), I decided to make a list of my 10 most used iPhone apps for all to see. Believe it or not, only one game made the list! Here are the top 10, in no particular order:
1. USA Today
The USA Today iPhone App is easily the best news source for the iPhone. While the AP, New York Times, ABC, and others have their own apps, most of them are buggy and slow. The USA Today app has headlines in multiple categories, loads quickly, and never crashes.

2. Pandora
Even if you don’t have an iPhone, you should check out Pandora.com. Basically, you can create your own commercial free radio stations. Amazingly, though, Pandora uses the Music Genome Project to play music on your station that you are pretty much guaranteed to like. It bases its suggestions on tonality, harmony, beat, artists, vocals, instruments, date, and much more. Really incredible!

3. Facebook
Part of the reason Facebook has overtaken MySpace as the most popular social network is its obviously superior iPhone application. Facebook for iPhone is a full featured app that includes chat, photos, minifeed, and notifications.

4. NetNewsWire
Probably my most used app, NetNewsWire syncs with their own NewsGator service to deliver RSS Feeds that are consistent on your browser, computer, and phone. There are other apps available that work with different services, but I believe this one is far and away the best out there. If you try this one, be sure to subscribe to this site.

5. Wurdle
The one game on my list, Wurdle is an absolutely addicting Word-Search-esque game. You’re given a set amount of time to find as many words as you can in a block of letters. You can find them horizontally, vertically, diagonally, backwards, and ANY combination of those. Highly customizable and highly addictive!

6. Yellow Pages
This very simple application will automatically find your current location and provide you with a search form to find the nearest anything. Search for the closest Best Buy, Mall, or simply “Seafood Restaurant.” Simple, pretty, and convenient.

7. TwitterFon
For users of the massively popular micro-blogging site, Twitter, this app is by far the best. It has a clean interface that easy to read and operate. The developer constantly provides updates and personally responds to any concerns. The second best in this category, Twitterific, doesn’t even come close to TwitterFon. Be sure to follow me on Twitter!

8. WootWatch
If you haven’t heard of Woot, you are missing out! Everyday, Woot.com offers a limited quantity of a single product at incredibly low prices. The product changes every night at midnight central time and it is a surprise to all. This app simply alerts you of the product of the day from Woot.com and their sister sites (Sellout, Shirt, Wine).

9. Air Sharing
While this app is a little more high tech, it’s extremely useful. Using WiFi, you can convert your iPhone into a wireless hard drive. Transfer ANY file to your phone and use it like you would a usb thumb drive.

10. Bible
Bible is a very well designed application that offers search, daily reading, and bookmarks. Find any scripture you need in 40 translations and 21 languages. This app requires an internet connection, so iPod Touch users must be connected to WiFi to use it.

Obviously, there are many more great iPhone applications out there and even more on their way. I can’t wait for the official releases of SlingPlayer, XM Radio, and uStream Broadcaster. And I’m still praying for a Hulu.com app!
Let me know what your favorite apps are in the comments, and I’ll give them a try!
