10 Sites I Regularly Visit

by Matt Langford on November 28, 2008 · Comments

Most people like me (computer nerds with few friends), have a few websites that they single-handedly keep in operation. Pretty much every time I get online (whether on my MacBook or iPhone), I hit these sites. I believe that you can get a complete psychological evaluation of anyone by analyzing the websites they frequent. So, I guess I’m opening myself up for psycho-analysis. So be it.

Listed in no particular order (because it changes based on my mood), here are my top 10 visited websites.

1. Facebook, duh! How people lived and communicated before Facebook is a mystery to me. I can stalk people, look at their embarrassing photos, follow their relationship status, then chat with them! What more in life is needed?

Facebook

2. Pandora Radio! What if you could make your own radio stations, without commericals, with the ability to skip and replay songs. And save them for later? Oh wait. You can already do that?

Pandora

3. Digg it up. On Digg, you can read (or view) the most popular articles, photos, and videos on the internet at any given time. The greatest thing about Digg is it changes by the minute and is continually evolving. If you find something cool online, you can even submit it instantly!

4. Hulu has got to be one of the greatest new sites in the world of the internet. Completely legal, it provides full-length video (many in HD) of old and current tv shows. Oh yeah, it also has movies. Might I suggest Sons of Anarchy?

Hulu

5. Twitter. Oh, Twitter. Basically micro-blogging, it has become an internet phenomenon. Recently, it’s been used to it’s maximum by the Obama campaign, The Mars Landing (NASA), and every popular tech person/place/thing in existence. Including me.

Twitter

6. ESPN. Yes, I’m a computer nerd, but even more — I’m a SPORTS FANATIC! It does have its faults, but ultimately ESPN is the best site for Sports News, Fantasy Sports, and much more. Running a close second is NFL.com.

ESPN

7. MLB Trade Rumors. Ok, another sports site. If you’re interested in what’s going on off-the-field in baseball, the hands-down best site is MLB Trade Rumors. It’s not even close.

MLBTradeRumors

8. NetTuts. Yes, the name makes me laugh too. In all seriousness, though, it’s one of the best resource sites for Web Designers and Developers. With in-depth tutorials and great content, it’s a must visit for the web guys.

NetTuts

9. Google. Ok, so this one is a little obvious. I mean, is it possible to get online for more than 5 minutes without using the search engine giant? In short, No. I personally use the customizable version, iGoogle.

igoogle

10. Wordpress.org. (Different than Wordpress.com!) If you’re familiar in any way with web design, you’ve heard of Wordpress. If you’ve ever been to a blog, you’ve probably been to a Wordpress blog (like this one!) It’s ease-of-use, customizability, and support is the best available.

Well, that’s it! Now you know what I do when I’m bored — well, when I’m breathing.

  • Twitter for $4,500? Haha, almost unbelievable. The enormous explosion was just unforeseeable for twitter 5 years ago.
  • Too bad I didn't have the foresight to jump all over that!
  • jeremy
nice list! (i'm showing my parents how wordpress works; thinking about using it for our church site)
  • TJ -- Very Cool! One stop place!
  • TJ
    You should check out http://popurls.com/
  • Good to know I'm not alone!
  • Baron
HA! Man there are only 3 sites on that list that are not on my Firefox menu bar. The rest I visit daily too.
