Apple released an upgrade to the iPhone software early this morning (version 2.2). Since I’m the ultimate Apple junkie, I’ve taken it upon myself to inform the masses (all 3 of you) of the life-altering somewhat cool download.
While it’s not as great as some of the past updates, it does offer some pretty cool things. First and foremost, Google Street View is now integrated into Google Maps. If you’ve never seen Street View in action, it’s basically a way to navigate with actual photos of your surroundings. The below photo is a screenshot of downtown Houston, TX as seen on my iPhone with Google Street View.
This update also includes: Improved Safari (with Google Search in toolbar), improved Email Fetching, fewer dropped calls, pressing home while on another page will take you to main home screen, public transit and walking directions in Maps, share location via email from Maps, download podcasts in iTunes Mobile, improved sound quality of Visual Voicemail, and preference to turn on/off auto-correction when typing.
To update your iPhone, simply sync it with iTunes (takes about 20-30 minutes).
