Thesis Skins

The Thesis Theme/Framework for Wordpress is absolutely amazing! Not only is it great for SEO, fast loading, feature laden, and well supported — but it also boasts a few easy-to-use-and-customize skins.

I’ve compiled a short list of some of the skins constructed by the best designers and thesis experts alive! Some of the skins are free, and some of them are paid (but very affordable).

Take a look:

Others Deserving Mention:

  • I also make a new child theme for Thesis, maybe you like it, see it here: http://vunamhung.com/simplepress-theme/
  • Matt, I have several free Thesis Skins available for download over on WPblogger.com. Would love for you to consider including them in your list. There are definitely a lot of great skins available and more coming out each day.

The community really is a big part of what makes Thesis a great theme to use.
  • I want to creating skins for thesis. I already do customizations, so creating them into skins shouldn't be too much of a stretch. Would you suggest offering some for free at first to build credibility?
  • If you've done a customization, then you've already created a skin! When you purchase/download a skin, you're only getting a pimped out version of custom.css and custom_functions.php.
  • Yeah, I kinda just figured that out. Looks like it's time to get to work on some really good stuff to start selling.
  • Hey Matt,

What font is that for looks good naked, the font for thesis playground?

    I love it!!
  • Just wanted to let you know that Blogussion has a new Thesis Skin as well. You should definitely check it out and include it in your list!
  • Seth, checkout my sidebar! :-)
  • Didn't know about Thesis skins...thank you!
  • Thanks for the list Matt. I'm lookgin for a business type theme (a,ong the lines of Studiopress's Corporate theme - but would prefer something Thesis based - especially as I have a developer licence! I'm going to investigate the Fresh company skin.

  • Matt - Great list. Are you going to do a followup to this post to cover some of the new skins that have been released since? I just put up one that has a widgetized header and fat footer area that I'm calling Thesis Sharp. Would love to be included in your skins list if do an update someday.
  • teamnirvana
Amazing skins out there. But, alas, cant see them working as I do not use Thesis them on my blog. But, once I lay my hands on it, then I will go on prowl to get the best skin ever and experiment with it more.
  • I suggest taking the plunge into the Thesis world as soon as possible! It really is remarkable how awesome it is. Additionally, since I posted this article, there are at least 5 times the amount of skins out now. They're everywhere! (And I'm working on releasing another one too!)
  • Great list - nice work from those who contributed.

  • Thanks for sharing... question, I'm playing with the naked skin but after uploading the file according to the directions... inside admin panel in appearances, telling me it's a broken theme : "The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template." A bit lost, so it not reading it correctly?

  • Hey Matt, thanks for referring to my blog too for tabbed widget example. :D
Anyway, I like this new theme too. Minimal. Right?

But, your new tabbed widget is like new? Added new function? When I click on Popular, the widget is like dropdown style, and then up again. Cool. How to do that Matt? Come on, give us a new tutorial. LOL.

    Cheers!

Comment Edited June 5: It's Now Ready Here!
  • Very cool. Thanks for compiling these Skins. Great to see what people are creating with Thesis. I'm willing to bet that we will see quite a few more in the not-too-distant future.

What is this "tabbed widget"? I want one ;-)

  • Mike, the Tabbed Widget that we were referring to here is in a tutorial that I wrote a while back. It still works perfectly! For examples, see here and here and here.
  • You can still use the one I linked in the previous comment, but I just published an all new tutorial (slightly harder, slightly better): Tabbed Widget with Animation. It's basically the one seen in my current sidebar.
  • Very slick. Thanks for the info. I'll dig into the tutorial further. I had not seen this before and I like the "compactness" that the widget delivers.

Anyway, I like your new blog design. Minimal is always beautiful. Thesis theme can do anything just beautiful and looks like web 2.0. Above thesis skins gimme an ideas too. :D

  • Baloot, I've been debating whether or not I want to put it back! For this design, I tried to minimize everything I possibly could and it got put on the chopping block... I might bring it back though!
  • Thanks for including my skin in the list as well. Though that sentence could be taken poorly out of context, I appreciate it!
